Turning off hints should stop highlighting jewels

I've turned off hints in the settings. However, when I'm playing your bejeweled clone (match 3+ in a row by swapping jewels) it's still marking two jewels I could swap. This is super annoying, I can find my own matches and when I look somewhere else to do just that I can still see your golden rectangle flashing which bugs me.
